Hey there!

So, you want to know if there's a noticeable decrease in the ozone layer over time? Well, grab a drink, sit back, and let's dive into it.

First off, let's talk about what the ozone layer actually is. The ozone layer is basically a shield of gas that protects us from harmful UV rays from the sun. Without it, we'd all be walking around looking like lobsters all the time.

Now, here's the thing. The ozone layer has been under threat for a while now. You might remember hearing about the hole in the ozone layer that was discovered back in the 80s. Yeah, things haven't really improved much since then.

So, what's causing this decrease in the ozone layer? Well, the main culprit is something called CFCs. CFCs are a type of gas that used to be found in things like refrigerators and aerosol sprays. When these CFCs break down, they release chlorine atoms that destroy ozone molecules. Not good.

Thankfully, there's been some progress made in reducing the use of CFCs. Many countries have signed on to the Montreal Protocol, which is an international agreement aimed at phasing out the use of ozone-depleting substances. Good job, world!

However, we're not out of the woods yet. There are still some other substances out there that can harm the ozone layer, like certain types of solvents. So, we still need to keep our eyes on the prize and make sure we're doing everything we can to protect that precious ozone layer.

So, to answer your question, yes, there is a noticeable decrease in the ozone layer over time. But, with some hard work and determination, we can turn things around and make sure that we can keep walking around looking less like lobsters and more like, well, like the beautiful humans we are!

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
