Are there any examples of successful cooperation between African countries on matters of international politics?

Yeah, there have been quite a few instances of successful cooperation between African countries when it comes to international politics! One big example would be the African Union (AU), which is made up of 55 member states (pretty much every country on the continent except for Morocco, which left in 1984 over a dispute about the organization recognizing the independence of Western Sahara). The AU was established in 2002 as a successor to the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and has made some serious strides in promoting unity and cooperation among African nations.

For instance, one area where the AU has been active is peacekeeping. The organization has been involved in a number of peacekeeping efforts across the continent, including in Sudan, Somalia, and Mali. In some cases, these operations have even been undertaken with the support of the United Nations. The AU has also established a Peace and Security Council (PSC) that is tasked with preventing, managing, and resolving conflicts in Africa. The PSC has been instrumental in bringing warring parties to the negotiating table and helping to broker peace agreements.

Another area where African countries have collaborated is economic development. In 2015, the AU launched the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which aims to create a single market for goods and services across the continent. So far, 54 countries have signed onto the agreement (Eritrea is the only country that hasn't), and 30 have ratified it. The hope is that the AfCFTA will help to spur economic growth and create new opportunities for businesses across Africa. Additionally, the AU has established a number of other initiatives to promote economic development, such as the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Of course, there are still plenty of challenges facing African countries when it comes to international politics. Many countries on the continent continue to struggle with issues like poverty, corruption, and political instability. There are also challenges associated with coordinating policies and strategies across such a large and diverse region. But despite these challenges, there is no shortage of examples of African countries coming together to tackle problems and work toward common goals. With continued cooperation and collaboration, there's reason to believe that African nations can continue to make progress in addressing the many challenges they face.
