Should the track and field world records be reset due to advancements in technology and performance enhancing drugs?

Hey!

That's an interesting question and one that has been debated in the world of sports for some time now. In my opinion, I don't think that the track and field world records should be reset due to advancements in technology and performance-enhancing drugs.

First, let's talk about technology. Yes, advancements in technology have certainly helped athletes to perform better than they would have been able to in the past. But at the same time, technology is available to all athletes. It's not like only a select few are able to use it. So, while it may give athletes an advantage, it's still up to their own talent, hard work, and determination that ultimately leads to them breaking records.

As for performance-enhancing drugs, that's a whole other issue. I do think that athletes who have been caught using such drugs should be punished and stripped of any records they may have broken. However, I don't think it's fair to punish everyone for the actions of a select few. Plus, drug testing has become more and more advanced over the years, so the chances of someone getting away with using performance-enhancing drugs are lower than they used to be.

At the end of the day, I think that the current world records should stand. They were set by incredible athletes who worked incredibly hard to achieve what they did. It wouldn't be fair to take that away from them just because technology has advanced and some athletes chose to cheat. Instead, we should focus on creating a level playing field for all athletes and ensuring that drug testing is fair and accurate.

Hope that helps!
