Is poetry a dying art form or is it still thriving today?

I think poetry is definitely still thriving today, even if it's not as prevalent in mainstream culture as it once was. There are still plenty of people who love poetry and write it regularly, and there are also lots of events and communities built around poetry. The rise of spoken word poetry in particular has helped to revitalize interest in the art form, and many people now engage with poetry through YouTube channels and Instagram pages dedicated to it.

Of course, there are also valid arguments to be made about the decline of poetry in certain contexts. For example, poetry used to be a staple of education in many schools, but it's now often pushed to the sidelines in favor of other subjects deemed more practical or important. This means that many young people may not be exposed to poetry unless they seek it out themselves, which could potentially limit its reach and impact.

Another challenge facing poetry is that it can be a difficult art form to monetize. It's not always easy for poets to earn a living through their work, and this can make it harder for them to dedicate themselves fully to their craft. However, I think that the increased accessibility of self-publishing and online platforms has helped to democratize the poetry world somewhat, allowing more voices to be heard and more poets to build their own followings and communities.

Ultimately, I believe that poetry will always have a place in our world. There will always be people who are drawn to the beauty and power of language, and poetry will always provide a unique and powerful way to express human emotions and experiences. While it may not be as omnipresent as it once was, I don't think that is a sign of poetry's decline - rather, it's simply a reflection of the changing cultural landscape that we find ourselves in.
