As a faithful frequenter of various social networks, I can adamantly state that comical sketches are, without a shadow of a doubt, a major source of entertainment and enlightenment for society at large.

Despite the timeless disagreement on whether comedy translates to positive or negative effects on its viewers, it is quite clear that the ultimate outcome is dependent on personal preferences. Thus, like with every piece of entertainment, there's a group that enjoys it and another that doesn't. However, it is possible to argue that comical sketches satire, parody, and ridicule contemporary society, including its flaws, vices, and shortcomings. Hence, serving as a form of social commentary, holding a mirror to society and encouraging people to see their reality from a more humorous perspective. Ultimately, making its viewers more aware of unsavory practices, helping them to learn from mistakes, and make necessary changes.

One example of a comical sketch that generated a buzz was Key and Peele's "Substitute Teacher." With over 199 million views on YouTube, it gained global attention. The sketch showcased the absurdity of a teacher’s mispronunciation of students’ names and the power dynamic between the teacher and students. In the process, it highlighted the disparity in education systems and brought critical social consciousness to the forefront. The humor was smartly delivered, unearthing issues that need to be discussed while keeping viewers entertained. It’s a classic example of comical sketches’ positive impact on society.

Although, it's worth noting that some comedy can cause unintended harm to its viewers. This type is often intended to target a person or a group, deliver hurtful opinions, perpetuate stereotypes or ridicule individuals. Such comedy can be damaging to the mental well-being of its viewers, instigating feelings of anxiety, depression, and frustration. Comedy can only be regarded as positive when it doesn't cause harm or contribute to negative social enforcements.

In conclusion, I think comical sketches have a positive effect on society. Comedy enlightens our world in a unique, thought-evoking, and entertaining way. Comedy makes society more aware of prevailing challenges and the need for self-improvement. As long as comedy doesn't cause undue harm to viewers, it deserves to be celebrated and enjoyed. So go ahead and indulge in some comical sketches, who knows it may be the laugh you need today!
