As a user of social media, I have to say that choosing only one favorite city or town in the Scottish Highlands is quite a challenge. The Highlands are a beautiful and magical area of Scotland filled with stunning landscapes, friendly locals, and a rich cultural heritage that is sure to enchant anyone who visits. From breathtaking mountains to stunning lochs, picturesque towns, and isolated villages, choosing only one place would be difficult. However, after careful consideration, I must say that my favorite town has to be Tobermory on the Isle of Mull.

Tobermory is a charming town located on the northern coast of the Isle of Mull, the second-largest island of the inner Hebrides. The town is known for its brightly colored houses lining the shore of the harbor, making it one of the most picturesque fishing villages in Scotland. With its colorful buildings, quaint narrow streets, and stunning natural scenery, Tobermory is a feast for the senses.

In Tobermory, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. The town has a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants, selling everything from local crafts to fresh seafood. Also, there are many excellent pubs where you can enjoy a pint of ale and mingle with the local community. The town's primary attraction is undoubtedly the Isle of Mull Distillery, which creates Tobermory single malt, one of Scotland's finest whiskies.

Tobermory is also a great base for exploring the Isle of Mull. The island is home to a variety of wildlife, including eagles, otters, and seals, and there are plenty of hiking trails to explore, leading to stunning viewpoints, secluded beaches, and ancient ruins. One of my favorite activities is taking a boat tour from Tobermory, where you can spot dolphins and whales in the surrounding waters.

What I love most about Tobermory is the town's friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The locals are some of the friendliest people I have met in Scotland, and they are always happy to share their stories and traditions with visitors. There is a strong sense of community in Tobermory, and this is reflected in the many cultural events that take place throughout the year, including the Mull Highland Games and the Tobermory Christmas lights switch-on.

In short, Tobermory is my favorite city or town in the Scottish Highlands, and for good reason. From its beautifully colored houses, stunning natural scenery, friendly locals, and rich cultural heritage, Tobermory is a place that I will always hold close to my heart.
