Spiritualism is a belief system that focuses on the idea that spirits of the dead can communicate with the living. It is regarded as a new religious movement that differs from Eastern religions in various ways. In this response, I will consider the key differences between Spiritualism and other religions in Eastern Religions and New Religions.

Firstly, while Spiritualism holds the belief in the communication between the living and the dead, most Eastern Religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism, stress the idea of continuity of life after death. These religions hold the belief in reincarnation, where a person's soul is reborn after death into another living being. In contrast, Spiritualism encourages an active interaction between the living and the dead, where the deceased can pass messages to comfort their loved ones.

Secondly, Spiritualism does not have a formalized scripture or dogma like most organized religions. Eastern religions have extensive scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita (Hinduism), Sutras (Buddhism), and Tao Te Ching (Taoism). These holy books provide guidance on moral and ethical conduct and shape the core beliefs of the followers. However, Spiritualism is more flexible and personalized, where each individual may have their unique beliefs, and it is not strictly governed by a set of written rules.

Thirdly, New Religions such as Scientology or Raelism, differ significantly from Spiritualism and other Eastern religions.
