In my opinion, modernist architecture has gone through several significant changes over the years, which tell us a lot about the style overall. Initially, modernist architecture focused on functionality and minimalism, rejecting the ornate decoration of previous styles. Architects like Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe developed the concept of "form follows function," which prioritized the use of materials like concrete and steel to create clean and efficient building designs.

However, as modernism became more popular, it began to adopt various forms and interpretations. In the 1950s and 1960s, modernist architecture took on a more sculptural appearance, with architects experimenting with innovative designs and materials. The use of glass, steel, and concrete became more prevalent, along with the addition of curves and abstract shapes.

By the end of the 20th century, modernist architecture had become more focused on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Architects began to incorporate green spaces, renewable energy sources, and other eco-friendly features into their designs, while still maintaining the minimalism and functionality that are hallmarks of modernism.

In my opinion, these changes in modernist architecture tell us that the style has evolved to meet the needs of society over time. While still adhering to its core principles of simplicity and functionality, modernist architecture has adapted to new technologies, ideas, and environmental concerns. It has become more responsive to the needs and desires of people, rather than simply rejecting the decorative excesses of past eras.

Overall, I believe that modernist architecture has proven to be a durable and dynamic style that will continue to evolve over time. As society progresses, new ideas and technologies will emerge, and modernism will undoubtedly find new ways to incorporate them into its designs.
