How does nationalism intersect with race and ethnicity?

In my opinion, nationalism intersects with race and ethnicity in a few different ways. First, nationalism can lead to a sense of exclusivity and homogeneity within a nation, often based on shared ethnicity or race. This can lead to the marginalization of individuals or groups who do not fit into these narrow definitions of national identity.

Nationalism can also lead to a heightened sense of pride and attachment to one's own ethnic or racial identity. While this can be a positive thing, it can also lead to a tendency to view others as inferior or less deserving of rights and opportunities.

Another way in which nationalism intersects with race and ethnicity is through the creation of cultural borders and the reinforcement of stereotypes. For example, a nationalist movement in a country might promote the idea that members of a certain ethnic group are the "true" citizens of that nation, while others are outsiders who do not belong. This can create a sense of "us vs. them" and reinforce negative stereotypes about different groups.
