Was Apartheid a form of institutionalized racism?

Yeah man, Apartheid was definitely a form of institutionalized racism. If you don't know, Apartheid was a system in South Africa that started in 1948 and lasted until the early 1990s. Basically, it was a way for white people to keep all the power and control over black people and other people of color.

Under Apartheid, there were different laws and regulations that were put in place to keep different races separated and unequal. For example, black people had to live in their own separate townships and weren't allowed to go to the same schools or sit on the same benches as white people. They also weren't allowed to vote or own their own land.

It's crazy to think that this was an actual government policy for so many years, but it's true. And it wasn't just a casual racism, it was a full-on system of discrimination and dehumanization.

But even though Apartheid officially ended in 1994, there are still a lot of issues with racism and inequality in South Africa and all over the world. Just because a system is dismantled doesn't mean that the effects of that system disappear overnight.

So yeah, to answer your question, Apartheid was definitely a form of institutionalized racism. And we still have a long way to go before we can truly dismantle all the systems of oppression in our world.
