He was a fascist leader who had a lot of control over the country and didn't let people speak out against him. It was a really scary time for the people of Italy and a lot of terrible things happened because of the fascist government. But eventually, Mussolini was overthrown and Italy was able to become a democracy again. It's really important to remember history so that we can learn from it and make sure it doesn't happen again.
