- Battery Capacity: An EV with a bigger battery capacity will take longer to charge than an EV with a smaller battery. For example, a Tesla Model S with a 100 kWh battery can take around 10 hours to fully charge on a standard plug, while a Nissan Leaf with a 30 kWh battery can take around 4 hours.

- Type of Connector: EVs can be charged using different types of connectors, and each type has a different charging speed. The most common connectors are the CHAdeMO, CCS, and Tesla Supercharger. A CHAdeMO connector, which is used for Nissan and Mitsubishi EVs, can take around 30 minutes to charge an EV from 20% to 80%. A CCS connector, which is used for most European EVs, can provide up to 350 kW of power, allowing a faster charge than CHAdeMO. Lastly, a Tesla Supercharger can provide an EV with up to 250 kW of power, allowing a Model S to charge from 20% to 80% in just 40 minutes.

- Charging Station: The charging station is also relevant as some stations provide more power than others. A standard plug can provide up to 7.2 kW of power, while a Level 2 station can provide up to 19.2 kW. A Level 3 charging station, which is also known as a fast charger, can provide up to 350 kW of power.
