Are there any inherent conflicts or trade-offs between education reform and standardized testing?

There is a question going around about whether or not making changes to how we educate students and using standardized testing will be in conflict with each other. Let me try to explain it in a simple way.

Education reform means looking at how we teach kids and how we can make it better. This can mean lots of different things, like trying new teaching methods, using technology in the classroom, or making sure teachers are really good at what they do.
