What were some of the major criticisms of Socrates and his philosophy?

Well, there were definitely a lot of people who were critical of Socrates and his philosophy. Some of the main criticisms were that he was too focused on abstract ideas and theories, and that he didn't pay enough attention to the practical realities of life. There were also some who accused him of being too cynical and pessimistic, and of not having enough faith in human nature.

One of the main criticisms of Socrates was that he didn't seem to care much about the material world. He was always talking about abstract concepts like truth and Justice, but he didn't seem to be interested in things like money, power, or status. This made a lot of people in Athens think that he was a bit of a kook, and that his ideas were too impractical for real life.

Another criticism of Socrates was that he spent too much time questioning and criticizing other people's ideas, without offering any real solutions of his own. This made him appear to some people as a bit of a hypocrite, always pointing out the flaws in other people's arguments without taking the time to develop his own.

Finally, there were those who accused Socrates of being a bit of a downer. He was known for his pessimistic views on human nature, and it was said that he believed that people were inherently flawed and could never really achieve true happiness or fulfillment.
