Are there any underrated movie soundtracks that deserve more recognition?
Yeah, there are definitely some underrated movie soundtracks out there that deserve more recognition. I mean, we all know the iconic soundtracks like Star Wars, The Lion King, and Titanic, but there are so many other great ones that often get overlooked.
First off, I have to give a shoutout to the soundtrack for the movie Drive. It was composed by Cliff Martinez and it perfectly captures the dark, moody tone of the film. The use of synths gives it an 80s feel, but it also has a really modern edge to it. The standout track is "Nightcall" by Kavinsky, which sets the tone for the entire movie.
Another one that comes to mind is the soundtrack for The Social Network. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross really knocked it out of the park with this one. It's a mix of electronic and classical music that creates a really unique sound. "In Motion" and "Hand Covers Bruise" are two tracks that really stand out to me.
I also have to give a shoutout to the soundtrack for the movie Whiplash. The jazz music in this movie is absolutely incredible and it's all thanks to composer Justin Hurwitz. It's not often that a movie soundtrack features so much jazz, but Hurwitz really made it work. The standout track is "Caravan" by Duke Ellington, which is featured in one of the movie's most intense scenes.
Finally, I have to mention the soundtrack for the movie Her. It was composed by Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett and it perfectly captures the futuristic yet intimate feel of the movie. The use of synths and strings creates a really unique sound that fits the movie's themes perfectly. "The Moon Song" by Karen O and Ezra Koenig is a standout track that was even nominated for an Academy Award.
Overall, there are so many great movie soundtracks out there that deserve more recognition. These are just a few of my favorites, but there are so many more that I could talk about. It's always a treat to discover a new movie with an amazing soundtrack that really enhances the viewing experience.
