War movies can give a human face to those impacted by war, including the soldiers themselves, their families and the civilians caught in the crossfire. When audiences see this human face, they become more aware of the enormous human cost of war.

For instance, movies like "Platoon" and "Full Metal Jacket" created significant anti-war sentiments in the United States during its involvement in the Vietnam war.
