How has Confucius' popularity fluctuated throughout history and why?

Confucius was a very important person in Chinese history. He lived a very long time ago, more than 2,000 years ago! He was a philosopher and a teacher. He believed in being kind and respectful to others, and he taught people to be good citizens. He was very popular with many people in China.

After Confucius died, his ideas became even more popular. Many people wrote books about him, and his teachings were taught in schools. For a long time, people in China followed his teachings.

However, during the 1900s, China went through a lot of changes. Some people thought that Confucius' ideas were old-fashioned and didn't work anymore. They wanted to make new ideas and change the way the country was run. Some people even tried to get rid of Confucius' teachings altogether.

But Confucius' popularity hasn't completely gone away. Some people still think that his ideas are important and relevant today. They believe that being respectful and kind to others is still something we should all strive for.
