Voluntourism is when people go to different places to help out and volunteer. But, sometimes this can have a bad effect on the communities and cultures they are trying to help.

One negative impact of voluntourism is that it can take away jobs from local people. Sometimes, volunteers come from faraway places and offer to do jobs for free. This can make it harder for locals to find work and support their families.

Another negative impact is that volunteers may not be properly trained to handle certain tasks. For example, if a volunteer helps to build a house but doesn't know how to do it properly, the house may be unsafe and cause harm.

Volunteers may also unintentionally bring their own values and beliefs to the community, which can clash with the local culture. This can cause tension and conflict between the local people and the volunteers.

Finally, voluntourism can sometimes perpetuate the idea that communities in developing countries are helpless and need outside help. This can be harmful and disrespectful to the local people, who are capable of solving their own problems.

To avoid these negative impacts, it's important for volunteers to work with local organizations and community leaders, and to receive proper training before they start their work.
