Is Theosophy recognized as a legitimate religion in any countries or regions?

Well, to be honest, Theosophy is not widely recognized as a legitimate religion in any countries or regions. However, there are some countries where Theosophical organizations are registered and considered as non-profit entities, such as the United States, India, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

According to the American Religious Identification Survey conducted in 2008, only 7,000 people in the United States identified themselves as Theosophists, which is less than 0.01% of the total population. Similarly, the number of Theosophists in other countries is quite low. For example, in Australia, the number of Theosophists is estimated to be around 1,000, while in India, the birthplace of Theosophy, the number of followers is around 100,000.

Despite the low numbers, Theosophists have been involved in various activities promoting peace, understanding, and harmony among different religions. Theosophical societies have also contributed to the fields of education, science, art, and literature. Theosophy's core principles of unity, brotherhood, and compassion have been influential in the global spiritual movement. However, the lack of recognition as a legitimate religion has also put Theosophists in a precarious situation, as they do not receive any official support or protection from the government.
