Just like how we use the internet to talk and share things with people from all over the world today, people in the past used the Indian Ocean trade network to trade goods and ideas.

The Indian Ocean trade network was different from other trade networks in history because it connected so many different places together. For example, it connected Southeast Asia to India, Africa, and even China.

One of the most important things that was traded on the Indian Ocean trade network was spices. Spices like cinnamon, pepper, and cloves were very valuable, and people would pay a lot of money to get them. It was also a way for people to trade things like textiles, ceramics, and precious metals.
