Are there any potential downsides to adopting a purely pragmatic approach to knowledge?

There could be some problems if we only focus on the practical side of things and don't consider the bigger picture.

For example, if we only care about getting good grades in school and learning things that will help us get a job, we might miss out on the joy of learning simply for the sake of learning. We might also not learn about things that are important for our overall well-being, like how to manage stress or how to have healthy relationships with others.

Another downside of being too pragmatic is that we might not be open to new ideas or perspectives. If we only care about what works in our current situation, we might not be willing to try new things or explore different ways of thinking. This could limit our growth and development as individuals and as a society.

Overall, it's important to balance practicality with curiosity, creativity, and open-mindedness. By doing so, we can learn and grow in ways that are both meaningful and useful.
