Blair's scandal was a big deal because The New York Times is one of the most respected newspapers in the world. Blair ended up getting fired, and the Times had to issue a public apology.

One more scandal that comes to mind is the one that happened in 2011 when a news station in Salt Lake City, Utah, aired a story about a BYU basketball player named Brandon Davies. The story claimed that Davies had been kicked off the team for having premarital sex, which is against the school's rules.

But then it turned out that the story wasn't true at all. Davies had been suspended for violating team rules, but it had nothing to do with sex. The news station had rushed to report the story without checking their facts first.
