What steps should the international community take to strengthen and better enforce International Humanitarian Law moving forward?

The world has witnessed countless horrors and atrocities, ranging from genocide, war crimes, to crimes against humanity. These crimes undermine the fundamental principles of humanity, such as dignity, equality, and respect for life. Therefore, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that such acts do not go unpunished and to hold accountable those responsible for them.

One critical step to strengthening and enforcing International Humanitarian Law is to hold accountable not only the individuals who commit these crimes but also those who enable them. This could include individuals, states, or corporations who provide financial or logistical support to perpetrators of crimes against humanity. By holding these actors accountable, we can effectively dismantle the networks that allow these crimes to occur and help ensure that justice is served.

Another critical step that must be taken is for states to create and enforce domestic laws that align with International Humanitarian Law.
