In other words, it argues that only the individual's mind can be certain of its own existence, and everything outside of oneself is uncertain and fundamentally unknowable.

This idea challenges the traditional scientific and philosophical approaches because they rely on the assumption that there is a shared reality that can be studied and understood through observation and experimentation. For example, science assumes that there is an objective reality that exists independent of our subjective experiences, and we can gain knowledge of it through empirical methods. However, metaphysical solipsism argues that our subjective experiences are all we can rely on, and objective reality is not accessible to us.
