Who are some famous Enlightenment philosophers or thinkers throughout history?

There were some really smart people called philosophers who lived a long time ago in a time called the Enlightenment. Some of the most famous ones were Benjamin Franklin, Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and John Locke.

Benjamin Franklin was an American who was very good at inventing things and loved to write. He had some really great ideas about how people should treat each other and helped America gain independence from England.

Voltaire was a French philosopher who was very funny and clever. He wrote plays, poetry, and books that made people think about important topics like freedom of speech and religion. He thought that everyone should be free and equal.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a French philosopher who believed that people are naturally good but can be corrupted by society. He thought that everyone should have a voice in government, not just rich people.

John Locke was an English philosopher who wrote a lot about how people should be treated fairly. He believed that everyone has natural rights like life, liberty, and property. He also thought that people should have a say in how they are governed.

These philosophers were very important because they helped people think about important topics like freedom, equality, and fairness.
