Should companies invest in upgraded firewalls or is the basic version enough?

Well, when it comes to the security of a company's network, I believe that investing in upgraded firewalls is definitely worth it. While the basic version may provide some level of protection, it may not be enough to ward off sophisticated cyber attacks that are becoming increasingly common these days.

Upgraded firewalls come with more advanced features such as intrusion detection and prevention, deep packet inspection, anti-virus and anti-malware software, which are all crucial in keeping the network secure. In addition, newer versions of firewalls are better equipped to handle the latest threats and can be updated regularly to stay ahead of any new security issues.

Moreover, investing in upgraded firewalls not only enhances network security but also adds value to the company's brand. Clients and customers tend to trust a company more when they know their data is safe and secure. It also saves the company from the embarrassment and financial loss caused by data breaches.

However, I understand that upgrading to an advanced firewall can be expensive, especially for small businesses with limited budgets. In such cases, it is important to weigh the costs against the potential risks and the cost of the damage from a cyber attack. While upgrading may seem like an unnecessary expense at first, the long-term benefits make it a wise investment.

It is also important for companies to keep in mind that even with the best firewalls, employees are still the weakest link in network security. Often times they may unknowingly fall for phishing scams or share their passwords which can compromise the whole network. Therefore, investing in employee training and creating a culture of cyber security awareness is equally important to protect the company's network.

In conclusion, I believe that companies should invest in upgraded firewalls as it is both a smart business decision and necessary to keep their network safe. While the basic version may offer some level of protection, it may not be enough to protect against current cyber threats.
