The Korean War was a big war that happened a long time ago. It had a big impact on North and South Korea that lasted for a long time after the war ended.

In North Korea, the war caused a lot of damage to buildings and cities. Many people lost their homes and had to start over. After the war, the country was divided into two parts, with a border called the DMZ, which is still there today. The government in North Korea became very strict and controlling, and the people of North Korea didn't have as many freedoms as people in other countries. They could not talk freely about what they thought or leave the country, and they also didn't have a lot of things that people usually take for granted, like electricity.

In South Korea, the war also caused a lot of damage, but the country was able to recover faster and become more prosperous. The government in South Korea became more democratic, which means that people have more say in how they are governed. People have more freedom to say what they think and do what they want. South Korea is now a prosperous country with a lot of high-tech industries and a lot of people who do well in education, music and sport.

Overall, the war had a big impact on both North and South Korea, but in different ways. North Korea became very restricted and reclusive, while South Korea became prosperous and more free. The two countries are very different from each other now, even though they used to be the same.
