The legacy of Colonial America in modern-day United States is big and it affects many things we see and do today. Colonial America was a time when people from other countries, like England, Spain, and France, came to America and made it their own. They built new settlements, grew crops, and hunted for food.

One of the biggest things we still see from Colonial America is our government. Back then, each colony had its own government, with laws and rules that were unique to them. But when the colonies joined together to become the United States, they needed a government that would work for everyone. That's how we got our U.S. Constitution, which is like a set of rules that everyone has to follow. It tells us how our government should be run and what rights we have as citizens.

Another big legacy of Colonial America is the culture. Back then, people spoke different languages and had different ways of life depending on where they came from. But over time, they started to mix together and create a new culture that we call American. Some of the things we love about American culture come from Colonial America, like our love of sports, music, and food.

There were also some things that we don't like today that came from Colonial America. One of those things is slavery. Slavery was when people were brought over from Africa and forced to work for free. It was a terrible time in American history, and it took a long time for people to end it. Today, we remember the people who fought for freedom during slavery, and we try to make sure that everyone is treated equally.
