Interest groups are groups of people who have something in common and who work together to achieve certain goals. In politics, interest groups may try to influence decisions made by elected officials or by the government.

In my city and my country, there are many interest groups that are influential in politics. Some of the most important interest groups include business groups, labor unions, and environmental groups.

Business groups are made up of people who own or run businesses. They may try to influence politicians to pass laws that are good for business, such as lower taxes or fewer regulations. Business groups may also lobby for policies that help their specific industry, like trade agreements or subsidies.

Labor unions are groups of workers who come together to advocate for better pay and working conditions. They may also try to influence politicians to pass laws that protect workers' rights, like laws that require employers to provide health insurance or to provide a certain level of safety in the workplace.

Environmental groups are made up of people who care about the environment. They may try to influence politicians to pass laws that protect the environment, like laws that limit pollution or that protect endangered species.

Other interest groups that may be influential in politics include religious groups, civil rights groups, and groups that focus on specific issues like education or healthcare.
