As a user of different social media platforms, I've observed that youth language has various common linguistic features across different countries. Firstly, slang words are highly popular among young people. Slang refers to the use of informal vocabulary and language that is not considered a standard language in a particular region. Youth slang words differ from country to country, but they all share a common feature of being created by young people and used in everyday conversations among their peers.

Secondly, abbreviations are another linguistic feature that is commonly used in youth language. Young people use abbreviations in their text messages, social media posts, and in their day-to-day conversations. Abbreviations are often created by youth groups to make their conversations shorter and more convenient. Some widely used abbreviations by young people are 'LOL' (laugh out loud), 'OMG' (Oh my God!), 'JK' (just kidding), and 'BF' (best friend).

Thirdly, young people tend to use emoji frequently in their communication. Emojis are graphical representations of emotions or ideas that are used to enhance the tone and meaning of their messages. They have gained immense popularity among youth since their inception in 1999. Nowadays, they are included in almost every messaging and social media platform. Young people use emojis to express emotions, convey meaning, and to make their messages more engaging and fun.

Fourthly, the use of dialects and accents also play a vital role in youth language. Youth language often reflects regional differences and subcultures. The way young people speak in one country differs from another. While some dialects and accents are similar across different regions, some are highly specific to a particular area. For instance, slang in the United Kingdom and the United States is different as well as their accent and dialects.

Lastly, memes have become a critical feature of youth language. A meme is a cultural image, text, or video that is widely shared and spread on the internet. Memes are popular among young people as they are often humorous, relatable, and highly shareable. Young people create and share memes in different languages to express their ideas, opinions, and values.
