How has the use of threat intelligence evolved over the years and what role does it play in modern-day information security?

Well, to be honest, I don't have a deep knowledge of threat intelligence and all its intricacies, but I can try to answer the question based on what I've seen and read in the media.

From what I understand, threat intelligence has evolved quite a bit over the years. Back in the old days (you know, like ten years ago), companies mostly relied on traditional security measures like firewalls and antivirus software to protect themselves against cyber threats. However, as the number and complexity of threats increased, it became clear that these measures were no longer enough.

That's where threat intelligence comes in. Essentially, it's all about gathering and analyzing data about potential threats and using that information to strengthen a company's defenses. This can include things like monitoring dark web activity, analyzing malware samples, and tracking the tactics and techniques of different hacker groups.

Nowadays, threat intelligence plays an absolutely crucial role in information security. With so many different kinds of threats out there - from ransomware to phishing scams to nation-state attacks - it's more important than ever to have a proactive approach to cybersecurity. And that's exactly what threat intelligence allows us to do.

Of course, there are still plenty of challenges to overcome. For one thing, there's always the risk of false positives - that is, mistaking a benign action for a potentially dangerous one. Additionally, threat intelligence can be a very complex and resource-intensive field, which means that not all organizations have the ability to invest in it.
