Which social movements have had the greatest impact on the LGBTQ+ community?

It sparked a national conversation about queer rights and paved the way for the establishment of LGBTQ+ organizations such as the Gay Liberation Front and the Gay Activists Alliance.

Fast forward to the 1980s and the AIDS crisis emerged as a tragic yet impactful social movement for the LGBTQ+ community. This epidemic claimed the lives of countless individuals and highlighted the government's lack of action and support for those affected. However, activists such as Larry Kramer and the founders of ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) fought tirelessly for better healthcare resources, an end to stigma and discrimination towards those with HIV/AIDS, and a cure for this devastating disease.

In the late 90s and early 2000s, the fight for marriage equality took center stage as a defining social movement for the LGBTQ+ community.
