This gave them the ability to choose from a much wider variety of programs, including international news, sports, movies, and TV series. They were no longer limited to what the local TV stations decided to show.

As a result, many people started to lose interest in traditional TV broadcasting. They found that satellite TV provided a much more diverse and interesting viewing experience. They could watch programs from other countries or even in other languages, which they could not do on traditional TV.
