Is existentialism more applicable to individualistic or collectivist societies?

Existentialism is a big word and it can be hard to understand, but it basically means that we have to decide for ourselves what is important in our lives. We don't just follow what everyone else is doing, we think for ourselves.

Now, when we talk about societies, we can say that some cultures are more individualistic and others are more collectivist. In individualistic cultures, people tend to think more about themselves and their own goals. They value things like independence and freedom. In collectivist cultures, people tend to think more about the well-being of the group, like their family or society as a whole. They value things like teamwork and loyalty.

So, back to the question - is existentialism more applicable to individualistic or collectivist societies? Well, it's a bit tricky because existentialism can apply to both types of societies. In individualistic cultures, people might be more likely to think for themselves and decide what they want out of life. But in collectivist cultures, people might question the traditions and beliefs of their society and decide what they want to do for the greater good.

In the end, existentialism is really all about taking responsibility for your own life and choices. So no matter what type of society you live in, you can always choose to think for yourself and make your own path.
