Do you think the Mayan Civilization would have survived if it wasn't for the Spanish Conquest?
I think that the Mayan Civilization had some big problems even before the Spanish Conquest. One of those problems was that they were running out of resources like water and food. They also had problems with disease and warfare. These things were already causing the population to shrink before the Spanish arrived.
However, there were still many Mayans living in the area when the Spanish came. They were able to resist the Spanish for a while, but ultimately the Spanish had more advanced weapons and technology. This made it impossible for the Mayans to keep them out for long.
So, to answer the question, I think that it's likely that the Mayan Civilization would have eventually died out even without the Spanish Conquest. The problems that they faced were too big for them to solve on their own.
That being said, it's possible that with more time and resources the Mayans could have found a way to overcome their problems and survive. Sadly, we'll never know for sure.
