What is the most unique marine animal you've encountered while snorkeling?

Oh boy, let me tell you about the most unique marine animal I've ever encountered while snorkeling - the Mola Mola, also known as the Ocean Sunfish.

At first glance, this bizarre creature looks like it shouldn't even exist in our world. It's massive - the largest bony fish in the world, actually - with a tall dorsal fin and a round, flattened body that looks like it got hit by a steam roller. Seriously, imagine a giant pancake with fins.

But despite its weird appearance, the Mola Mola is actually a master of the ocean. These massive fish can weigh over 2,000 pounds and swim up to depths of 2,000 feet. They're found all over the world, but are most commonly spotted in temperate and tropical waters.

So there I am, snorkeling along the coast of Hawaii, when I see this massive creature floating just a few feet away from me. At first, I wasn't sure what I was looking at - it looked like a giant gray disk with little fins sticking out. But as it came closer, I could see its beady little eyes and gaping mouth.

I was absolutely mesmerized. The Mola Mola's movements were slow and graceful, as if it were floating through space rather than the ocean. And as it drew nearer, I could see the dozens of tiny parasites attached to its skin, wriggling and squirming in the sunlight.

But the most striking thing about the Mola Mola was its sheer size. It was easily three times my height, and I couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by its presence. As it glided past me, it seemed to be saying "I may look strange, but I'm the boss of this ocean."

To this day, the Mola Mola remains the most unique and awe-inspiring marine animal I've ever encountered. It just goes to show that sometimes the most amazing creatures are the ones that don't fit our expectations. So get out there and explore the ocean - you never know what strange and wonderful creatures you might come across!
