Overtourism is definitely becoming a serious problem in popular destinations all around the world. Over the years, the number of people travelling has been increasing, and this has led to more people visiting popular destinations at the same time, putting huge pressure on facilities and resources, and causing congestion and pollution.

Despite the clear economic benefits of tourism, in some popular destinations, the negative effects of over tourism are all too apparent. In destinations where the tourism industry is the primary source of income, there is often a fine balancing act between sustainable tourism and tourism that operates purely for its economic potential. To address the issue of over tourism, solutions that are tailored to the specificities of each destination need to be implemented.

One possible solution is for the government to impose limits on the number of tourists that can visit a certain destination at any given time. This would reduce congestion and overcrowding in popular tourist areas, and allow visitors to explore a destination at a slower pace, taking in the local culture and environment. In this way, tourists can get a richer, more authentic experience while reducing the environmental impact associated with excessive tourism activity.

Another possible solution is to promote tourism in off-the-beaten-path destinations.
