Special effects are very important in the film and television industry because they make everything look more exciting and realistic. They can make it seem like things are moving on their own or that magic is happening right in front of your eyes!

Imagine watching a movie where the bad guys are supposed to be flying through the air on giant bats. Without special effects, it would look pretty silly because you could easily see that they were just hanging on to wires. But with special effects, you can make it look like they're actually flying and it makes the whole scene much more thrilling.

Another example is when movies show giant monsters destroying buildings. Without special effects, it would just look like a person in a costume stomping around a miniature city. But with special effects, the monsters can look huge and realistic, making the scene much scarier and more exciting.

Special effects also help tell the story better. For example, in a movie about space travel, special effects can make it look like the characters are really floating in zero gravity. This helps viewers feel like they're really in space with the characters.
