Immateriality is a really big word that means something that doesn't have a physical body or substance.

There's a debate between two big ideas called materialism and dualism. Materialism is the idea that everything in the world, including our thoughts and feelings, is made up of physical matter. Dualism is the idea that there are two parts to everything: physical things and non-physical things like thoughts and feelings.

Immateriality plays a big role in this debate because dualism says that our thoughts and feelings are not physical things, they are immaterial. Materialism says the opposite, that our thoughts and feelings are just physical reactions in our brains.

Some people think that materialism is the more scientific idea because we can study physical things and measure them. However, other people think that dualism is just as valid because we know that our thoughts and feelings exist, even if we can't see them or touch them.
