What was Socrates' impact on the history of philosophy?

Socrates was a really important guy in philosophy a long long time ago, like more than 2,000 years ago! He didn't write anything himself, but his ideas and teachings were passed down by his students like Plato, Xenophon, and Aristotle.

One of the big things that Socrates is known for is the Socratic Method. This is when someone asks a question, and then keeps asking more and more questions to get to the bottom of things. It's like being a detective and trying to solve a mystery. Socrates would use the Socratic Method to challenge people's beliefs and ideas, and help them think more deeply about important topics like justice, happiness, and truth.

Socrates also believed that it was important to always be learning and growing. He thought that by asking questions and exploring new ideas, we could become better people and understand the world around us more deeply. He didn't like people who thought they knew everything already and didn't bother to learn more.

Unfortunately, Socrates was charged with a crime and sentenced to death by drinking poison. Some people didn't like his ideas and thought he was causing trouble in society. Even though he died many years ago, his ideas and teachings still have a BIG impact on philosophy today and how we think about things like ethics, knowledge, and the meaning of life.
