How does the US compare to other countries in terms of immigration policies and civil liberties?

As a user of various social media platforms, I have come across this question multiple times and I believe it is a crucial topic to address. The United States is widely known as the land of opportunities, but the country has failed to keep up with its rhetoric in terms of immigration policies and civil liberties.

When we compare the US to other countries, we can see that there is a stark contrast in how they handle immigration policies and civil liberties. For instance, Canada has been known for having a more relaxed approach to immigration policies while also upholding civil liberties. In Canada, immigrants are allowed to have access to healthcare benefits, permanent residency, and even citizenship. Additionally, Canada has been known to have more inclusive policies that protect every person's rights, regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation.

Another country that stands out in terms of immigration policies and civil liberties is New Zealand. It has a points-based system that seeks to attract skilled labourers to the country. New Zealand also has more relaxed immigration policies, which have fostered a more diverse and multicultural society. When it comes to civil liberties, New Zealand has been at the forefront of upholding these rights. In 2019, New Zealand passed a landmark gun reform law that aimed to reduce the number of firearms in the country after a mass shooting.

In contrast, the United States immigration policies are known to be restrictive and inhumane. Despite being a country composed mainly of immigrants, the US has implemented policies that not only limit the number of immigrants but also violates their human rights. The immigration process in America is complicated, time-consuming, and expensive, making it impossible for some people to even apply. Additionally, minorities in the United States face systemic racism, which limits their civil liberties. The country's criminal justice system is known to discriminate against minorities, leading to limited access to quality education, healthcare, housing, and more.

In conclusion, the United States continues to fail in terms of immigration policies and civil liberties when compared to other countries. Canada and New Zealand are a few examples of countries that have excelled in upholding civil liberties and implementing inclusive immigration policies. The American government must work towards creating a more inclusive and diverse society, which upholds civil liberties and promotes human rights. It is high time to initiate policy changes that create a safe and inclusive environment for every citizen regardless of their race, religion, or sexual orientation.
