When it comes to environmental governance, the difference between developed and developing countries is quite significant. The main reason for this difference is the level of resources at the disposal of each country. Developed nations have a much greater budget to allocate towards environmental protection and a more educated population that understands the importance of sustainability. Developing countries, on the other hand, often face severe financial constraints and have to compete with other priorities in order to achieve any environmental goals.

Another issue that affects developing countries is their reliance on natural resources for economic growth. Many developing nations have a dependence on the exploitation of natural resources such as oil, gas, and minerals. This reliance often comes at a cost to the environment as natural resources are often extracted without regard for environmental impacts. Developed nations, on the other hand, have evolved their economies to focus on service and high-tech manufacturing industries, which have a lower environmental impact.
