How many types of Nebula are there and what distinguishes them apart?

Well, as far as I know, there are several types of Nebula. The most common are the emission Nebula, the reflection Nebula, and the dark Nebula.

Emission Nebula are made up of ionized gas, which is heated to high temperatures by the powerful radiation emitted by hot stars. These Nebula are characterized by their bright colors, with red and pink hues being the most common. They are also known for their distinctive shapes, which can be highly irregular and sometimes resemble animals or other objects.

Reflection Nebula, on the other hand, are made up of dust and gas that reflect the light of nearby stars. They are usually much less luminous than their emission counterparts, but can still be quite beautiful. They are characterized by their blue color, which is due to the way that the dust particles scatter the light.

Finally, there are the dark Nebula, which are so named because they appear as blank, empty regions in the night sky. These Nebula are actually clouds of gas and dust that are so dense that they completely block out the light of the stars behind them. They are often referred to as "coal sacks", because they can look like dark patches of coal against the bright backdrop of the Milky Way.

So, what distinguishes these types of Nebula apart? Well, as I mentioned earlier, each type has its own unique set of characteristics and features.
