Well, it's safe to say that the current state of fauna preservation efforts globally is a mixed bag. On one hand, there have been some significant strides made in recent years towards protecting endangered species and their habitats. For example, in September of 2019, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) voted to increase protection for several species of animals, including giraffes and otters. This was a major win for conservationists and animal lovers alike.

However, despite these victories, there are still many challenges facing the preservation of fauna worldwide. Perhaps the greatest of these is human activity, which continues to threaten the natural habitats of countless species. From deforestation to overfishing, we are putting enormous pressure on the earth's ecosystems - and as a result, on the animals who live there.

In addition to these challenges, there is also the issue of funding. While some countries and organizations are making significant investments in conservation efforts, many do not have the resources to do so. This can make it difficult for researchers and conservationists to carry out the necessary work to protect endangered species and their habitats.

Despite these challenges, I believe that there is reason for hope. Whether by supporting organizations that work to conserve wildlife, or by making changes in our own lives to reduce our impact on the environment, we all have a role to play in preserving the world's fauna.
