What changes are needed to strengthen International human rights law?

This is a complex issue, but I think there are several changes that could be made to strengthen international human rights law. Here are a few of my thoughts:

1. Greater enforcement: One of the major challenges facing international human rights law is that it can be difficult to enforce. Many countries do not take the law seriously, and there are few mechanisms for holding them accountable when they violate human rights. One potential solution would be to create new international institutions or strengthen existing ones, such as the International Criminal Court, to more effectively prosecute human rights abuses.

2. More comprehensive legal frameworks: Another area for improvement might be to create more comprehensive legal frameworks for protecting human rights. Currently, there are a number of treaties and agreements that touch on different aspects of human rights (such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights or the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women), but there is still room for more comprehensive legislation that covers a wider range of issues.

3. Increased public awareness and advocacy: Finally, I think that increased public awareness and advocacy could be a powerful tool for strengthening international human rights law. Social media and other digital platforms can be used to bring attention to human rights abuses and to advocate for stronger protections. Grassroots movements can also be effective in pressuring governments to take human rights seriously.

Of course, these are just a few possible solutions. There are many other avenues that could be pursued to strengthen international human rights law. Ultimately, it will take a collective effort from individuals, civil society organizations, governments, and international institutions to make a meaningful difference.
