Which contemporary poets have made significant contributions to the sonnet genre and how have they put their own stamp on it?

Well, to be honest, I'm not really sure. I mean, I'm sure there are definitely some contemporary poets out there who have made significant contributions to the sonnet genre, but I'm not exactly an expert on the subject.

That being said, I do know a few contemporary poets who are pretty well-regarded and might have put their own spin on the sonnet form. One that comes to mind is Claudia Rankine. She's well-known for her book "Citizen: An American Lyric," which is a really powerful collection of poems that touch on issues of race and identity. I'm not sure if she's written any sonnets specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised if she has and if they're really unique and interesting.

Another poet who might fit the bill is Terrance Hayes. He's won a bunch of awards for his poetry and is known for playing around with form and structure. Again, I'm not sure if he's written any sonnets, but I could see him doing some really cool things with the form.

One more poet worth mentioning is Ocean Vuong. He's relatively young compared to some of the other poets I've mentioned, but he's already made a big splash in the poetry world with his debut collection "Night Sky with Exit Wounds." His work is really personal and often deals with themes of love, family, and immigration. I don't know if he's written any sonnets either, but I imagine anything he does would be really heartfelt and powerful.

So there you have it - a few contemporary poets who might be doing interesting things with the sonnet form. Of course, there are probably many more out there that I don't know about. If anyone else has any suggestions, feel free to chime in!
