As an English-as-a-second-language (ESL) user myself, I can attest that learning in a language that is not your first can be challenging. Some cultures may have more respect for authority, while others may emphasize more group work or even more individual tasks. For instance, some Asian cultures emphasize group harmony and the valuing of teamwork, while Western cultures might focus more on individual achievement. A teacher who is aware of this cultural difference can adjust their overall teaching approach accordingly to benefit everyone.
