Do Angels have a hierarchy? How is it defined?

As far as I know, angels do have a hierarchy. It's called the angelic hierarchy and it's a classification system used to describe the different types of angels. The hierarchy is divided into three triads or groups of three, with each triad containing different classes of angels.

The first triad is made up of the seraphim, cherubim, and thrones. The seraphim are the highest level of angels and are said to be closest to God. They are described as having six wings and being covered in eyes. The cherubim are described as having four faces - a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle - and four wings. They are said to guard the throne of God. The thrones are the third class in the first triad and are described as being covered in eyes and carrying the throne of God.

The second triad is made up of the dominions, virtues, and powers. The dominions are responsible for governing the universe and are said to be the ones who give orders to the lower angels. The virtues are responsible for performing miracles and are said to be the ones who carry out God's will. The powers are responsible for maintaining order within the universe and are said to be the ones who fight against evil.

The third triad is made up of principalities, archangels, and angels. The principalities are responsible for overseeing groups of people and nations. The archangels are the most well-known angels, with Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael being the most famous. They are said to be messengers of God and help humans in times of need. The angels are the lowest level of angels, but still play an important role in the hierarchy. They are said to be messengers of God as well and are responsible for guarding and protecting humans.

Overall, the angelic hierarchy is a complex system with many different classes of angels, each with their own specific duties. While some may debate the existence of angels or the validity of the hierarchy, it remains an interesting topic of discussion and faith for many people.
