They wanted to be free, to have control over their own lives and countries, and to be treated with respect.

Over time, many people in Africa and Asia started to come together to fight against the colonizers and their unfair treatment. They formed groups and organizations, and sometimes even rebelled against the colonizers with weapons. They also started to demand their independence, or the right to govern their own countries and make their own decisions. This became known as nationalism, the belief that each country and its people should have the right to determine their own future.

Without colonization, it's possible that nationalist movements may not have risen in Africa and Asia. The way colonizers treated the people they took over created a strong desire for independence and self-governance.
