Was Mandela really a terrorist in his youth or was that propaganda spread by his opponents?

I have always been curious about Nelson Mandela's past and the accusations that he was a terrorist in his youth. I have heard different versions of the story, and it is difficult to know which one is the truth.

From what I have read, Mandela was a member of the African National Congress (ANC), which fought against the apartheid regime in South Africa. The ANC was banned by the government, and its members were often persecuted, imprisoned, or even killed. Mandela was arrested several times, and he spent 27 years in prison before being released in 1990.

During his imprisonment, Mandela became a symbol of resistance against apartheid, and he gained international recognition for his struggle. When he was released, he pursued a policy of reconciliation and forgiveness, which helped to avoid a civil war in South Africa.

However, there are some claims that Mandela was involved in violent acts during his youth, and that he was a member of Umkhonto we Sizwe (Spear of the Nation), the paramilitary wing of the ANC. Some sources say that Mandela was responsible for bombing a government building in Johannesburg in 1963, which resulted in the death of a woman.

These accusations are mainly spread by Mandela's opponents, who wanted to discredit him and the ANC. They argue that Mandela was a terrorist who aimed to overthrow the government by force, and that he was a danger to the stability and security of South Africa.

On the other hand, Mandela himself denied these allegations, and he said that he was committed to non-violent resistance as a means of achieving freedom and justice. He also stated that he was ready to stand trial for his actions, and that he would not regret anything he had done for the cause of democracy.

In my opinion, it is difficult to judge whether Mandela was a terrorist or a freedom fighter, as both terms depend on the perspective and the context. What is clear is that Mandela was a man who dedicated his life to the struggle against apartheid, and who paid a high price for his beliefs. Whether he used violence or not, his legacy is one of courage, determination, and hope.
